Through the Trees

Look Up

Remember when you had time to lay down,
to stare up through the trees and think great thoughts?
We should do that more often!

A Hat

Sometimes.... you just gotta snap a photo when it comes along
Every now and then, there's someone shopping who catches my eye -
most often, its someone wearing a hat!

Sadie

After putting fresh sheets on the bed,
Sadie finds a spot to curl up in.... all over the pillows!
Check how she moved them around until they curved around her!

loved the depth and color with the early morning sunlight

You can see more of my photos at SmugMug

Ulistac

Ulistac Natural Area in Santa Clara, CA.
This area was a seasonal camp for the Ohlone Indians.
Ulistac is the name of one of their chiefs.
40 acres of grounds to walk, makes for a great early morning hike

Coyote

Saw this beautiful coyote on an early morning walk at Riparian Preserve
such grace and elegance as it moved across the grass.
I didn't wait around to see if it was male or female.  lol

and walk for two minutes,
then take a picture.

When it rains, rainwater from the streets

The Letter "Q"

Something that starts with the letter "Q"

Quilt came to mind.  This one was created for me because I like green.
It was hand sewn back in the early 90s, and I cherish it.

Linen

Colour my week:  Linen

A doily I've had for as long as I can remember

I have to admit, when I saw this topic,
I didn't think of Linen as a colour, more as a group of things,
such as bath towels or linens in the linen closet
(is that an old fashioned thing?)

Kitchen Table

Where you sit or stand in the kitchen

sometimes the topic can be fun-- aren't we all curious
about those who take pictures, and what goes on in their lives?

Comparison

Compare two objects of different sizes

When I got the idea for all of this.. I set the toy on the table, got the camera ready,
and finally set Sadie up there....  her first instinct was to check out this new thing....

Carved

Take a photo of something old, or make it look old fashioned

This is my collection of Nancy Drew books, first published in 1959
I remember reading them as a pre-teen, and loved them!

Babbitt Metal

Colour my week:  Light Grey

This is an Andrew Jackson "Old Hickory" Babbitt metal paperweight.
It was found in the hope chest of my maternal Grandmother, Luella.
Findings on the internet put it made sometime after 1898.

Cutlery

Topic:  Cutlery

I've had this knife since the 90s, made by Santa Fe Stoneworks
I wonder if it was some kind of "sign" that this type of southwest
inlaid works appeals because ... well, look where I ended up? *grin*

Sharp as a Tack!

Topic:  Something sharp, or sharply in focus

This little bunny pin I've had forever, its probably leftover from
my brother as a baby (1966) because my kids all wore Pampers!

Flowers whisper

"Beauty!"

Family

This is my family.

David, Lori, me
Dad and Mom

Sometimes we get so busy
taking photos with kids in them,
or of the kids, that we forget
that this is the core of our family,
where it all started.

"The happiest moments of my life
have been the few which I have passed
at home in the bosom of my family."

Bowers Park Trees

Bowers Park - a place where I
spent some growing up years.

These trees are stately and old.

And if they could talk.....
oh the tales they could tell!!!

Yellow Rose

People from a planet

without flowers

would think we must be

mad with joy the whole time

to have such things about us.

Colour My Week: Blue

Colour My Week:  Blue

I had trouble deciding on this one.  The first picture is a wooden pencil cup
painted by my mom in a Norwegian style called "rosemaling".
The second picture:  1950s era Pyrex refrigerator dish (perfect size for leftovers)
but I use it to hold Sadie's treats
