Red Rose - This is Mr. Lincoln

Mister Lincoln is a large flowered (hybrid tea) bush rose 

introduced in 1964. (AARS 1965). 

This tall red rose is renowned for its strong fragrance 

(in still air it can be detected up to 10 feet away) 

and its deep, uniform red color.

This area was a seasonal camp for the Ohlone Indians. 

Ulistac is the name of one of their chiefs.

Coyote

Saw this beautiful coyote on an early morning walk at Riparian Preserve

such grace and elegance as it moved across the grass.

I didn't wait around to see if it was male or female.  lol

Babbitt Metal

This is an Andrew Jackson "Old Hickory" Babbitt metal paperweight.

It was found in the hope chest of my maternal Grandmother, Luella.

Findings on the internet put it made sometime after 1898.

I wonder if it was some kind of "sign" that this type of southwest

I had trouble deciding on this one.  The first picture is a wooden pencil cup

painted by my mom in a Norwegian style called "rosemaling".

The second picture:  1950s era Pyrex refrigerator dish (perfect size for leftovers)

but I use it to hold Sadie's treats
